The Interop 91 in San Jose later this month will be a major forum for the emerging Frame Relay fast packet-switching technology, and a 1.544Mbps T-1 network will connecting six Interop exhibitors, two public Frame Relay networks and the Telecom 91 show taking place at the same time on this side of the water in Geneva, Switzerland: an animated slide show transmitted between participating stands will explain the technology and to demonstrate its capabilities at varying speeds with a backbone network of StrataCom Inc IPX networking systems connecting the Digital Equipment Corp, StrataCom and Sync Research Inc stands via T-1; Cisco Systems Inc, CompuServe and SynOptics Communications Inc will also link into the network also via T1 and there will be a live link from CompuServe’s stand into the company’s public Frame-Net Frame Relay network, and Geneva will be connected from the StrataCom stand the Williams Cos WilTel unit’s WilPak public Frame Relay network, WilPAK and WorldCom domestic and international circuits; the links will incorporate the Local Management Interface signalling protocol, a Frame Relay option that tells the network the status of user device connections.
