MEN Micro, a provider of embedded computing and I/O products, has expanded its MIPIOS product line with the addition of RC1, a fanless Intel Atom-based box computer that provides up to 1.6 GHz of processing power.

According to MEN Micro, the new computer is suitable for mission-critical industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, and features a 8.66 inch x 5.12 inch x 3.39 inch aluminum enclosure with wall-mounting equipment.

All I/O interfaces, including two Fast Ethernet interfaces and a service interface with USB and RS232, are accessible at the front through 8-pin M12 connectors. Two slots are available for additional I/O options implemented using SA-Adapter kits. The onboard FPGA allows the integration of further interfaces such as CAN bus, RS485, IBIS or binary I/O.

Other features include: a 3.5 colour TFT LCD touch panel, the 512 MB RAM and 2 GB flash memory, a PCI Express Mini card and a SIM card slot can be used to add wireless functionality like Bluetooth, WLAN, WIMAX, GSM/GPRS or UMTS through two optional N-Type antenna connectors available at the front panel.

MEN Micro said that a second power input allows it to connect a backup power source, such as a battery. The new RC1 MIPIOS box computer price starts at $1,413 per unit without display and at $1,839 with display.
