Reading, Berkshire-based Enterprise Computer Holdings Plc, the computer services group has announced losses before tax of UKP5.7m, down from UKP29.2m for the previous 15 months. Turnover is also down to UKP58.2m from UKP157.9m. This slightly improved result reflects the company’s efforts to re-position its business to systems and services, with their higher profit margins, from its prior dependence on the second-user mainframe market. With this shift in mind Enterprise Computer Services Plc, an Enterprise subsidiary, has signed an agreement with Granada Computer Services International to take advantage of the latter’s position as a leading provider of independent computer maintenance. Overhead costs have been nearly halved to bring them progressively into line with with current levels of turnove. Since its move to try to sell its stake in SRH Plc, now put at 25%, (CI No 1,977) after discovering that it was not actually a subsidiary company, it has now been announced that negotiations for its sale are nearing completion.
