AT&T Co’s AT&T Network Systems has been awarded the $7.5m initial phase of the first national fibre optic network to be installed in Venezuela, awarded by La Compania Anonima Nacional de Telefonos de Venezuela: AT&T’s portion will link Caracas with Valencia, Guarenas and Guatire, covering 136 miles, and it will be able to carry up to 135,000 simultaneous phone calls.
