Norwood, Massachusetts-based Phoenix Technologies Ltd has teamed with Inmos Ltd, Bristol to collaborate on promotion of the new IBM Corp XGA video standard for personal computers. As part of the partnership, Phoenix will develop a family of XGA video BIOS products, the first of which will be introduced shortly. IBM has granted Inmos an exclusive licence to manufacture and sell XGA chip sets worldwide and the SGS-Thomson Microelectronics NV company is currently offering XGA core logic for builders of AT- and Micro Channel Architecture-based personal computers. When combined with the Inmos chips, PhoenixView/XGA video BIOS software will enable OEM customers to bring machines to market quickly.
