Acer Inc, Taipei, Taiwan says it expects to be just about in the black on consolidated turnover up 26% at $1,200m – it grew 38% last year, but made a string of acquisitions, notably of Altos: profits last year were $2.4m, down from $5.8m in 1989; it builds 500,000 desktop computers a year, putting it among the world top 10 makers.
