Hewlett-Packard Co has expanded its Advanced Image Management System to support 5.25 as well as the existing 12 optical disks: the 5.25 system will be supplied by Hewlett’s Greeley Storage Division and 12 disks and drives supported are now supplied by ATG Gigadisc SA of Toulouse, France, while Cygnet Systems Inc will continue to supply the jukebox. The 5.25 system incorporates one of three optical disk jukeboxes manufactured by the company, with built-in multifunction drives that can run rewritable or write-once. The jukeboxes are available in 20Gb, 60Gb and 100Gb models and can be combined to access up to 280Gb. In addition, Hewlett-Packard offers a stand-alone multifunction drive for low-cost, pilot-system development. Both systems integrate with the HP 9000 Series 800 servers under HP-UX. The 5.25 is out now, the 12 follows in July. No prices were given.
