San Jose, California-based Cygnet Systems Inc now has a High End Storage Optical Jukebox Offering for use with the IBM Corp AS/400: the thing uses the Cygnet Series 1800 optical jukebox and optical drives from Laser Magnetic Storage International, with Xerox Corp standing by to offer service in the US; the jukebox puts up to 4Tb of optical storage on-line; Cygnet says that while the new offering is not directly marketed by IBM, the company has developed and plans to provide RPQ hardware and PRPQ software support in mid-1992 because it reckons that it complements its own ImagePlus/400 family by providing an attractive optical storage product capability to address high capacity requirements Cygnet says.
