Advanced Micro Devices Inc has been denied a rehearing by the California Sixth District Court of Appeal of the court’s earlier modification of the arbitration award against Intel Corp, but the Sunnyvale company says the setback was not unexpected: The petition for rehearing was our first step in taking the June 4 decision to the California Supreme Court; that decision conflicts with the established body of law on arbitration in California and, if allowed to stand, will set a very dangerous precedent that could seriously impair the future of arbitration as a remedy in contract disputes, the company said, adding that it is planning to file its petition for review by the California Supreme Court on July 14.
