Anyone out there worried about radio wave pollution? There is growing concern that as we clog the airwaves with ever more electromagnetic radiation as we launch more and more mobile telephone and communications systems and spray broadcast satellite transmissions about in ever greater profusion, we may be submitting our bodies – and minds – to harmful overdoses, but there is once class of person that definitely has every reason to worry, and that is the wearer of a heart pacemaker: earlier this year, the American Association for the Advancement of Science heard that people had died when their pacemakers had been acidentally reprogrammed by anti-theft equipment in department stores; ah well, it’s something else for Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth to fret about.
