Sunnyvale, California-based Oak Technology Inc has come out with chip sets to support the Cx486SLC from Cyrix Corp: the offerings include a chip set for desktop personal computers and one for battery-powered notebook and pen-based systems: the Oak486SLC chip set includes virtually all the logic necessary to implement a desktop system in three chips – OTI-021 system controller, OTI-022 peripheral controller and OTI-087 VGA controller with 16m colour support to show photographic quality images; the OakNote486SLC set includes integrated power management support and 3V operation and consists of the OTI-041 system controller, OTI-042 peripheral controller and the OTI-043 LCD VGA controller; the Oak486SLC is available now at $52 for 1,000-up; the OakNote486SLC is available now and is priced at $75, again for 1,000-up.
