The Process Factory, which is part of and powered by business process management firm Cordys, has now finished its beta testing and is live with its on-demand mashup application platform.

Speaking to CBR, Cordys’ chief strategy officer Jon Pyke said the service has just gone live, and is already attracting a great deal of interest from tech-savvy business users who can’t wait for application functionality to be delivered by their IT teams.

For a charge of $50 per user per year, The Process Factory is said to enable users to create composite applications, otherwise known as mashups or as The Process Factory calls them, MashApps.

The Dutch online human resource management firm HumanWave is a Process Factory OEM and is offering its MashApps capabilities to its own HR professional customers, giving them increased flexibility when customising their on-demand HR applications or integrating them with other services.

The Process Factory team is meanwhile building a number of MashApps of its own which it will make available to its users to help get them started, including MashApps for expense management; IT service requests; vacation requests; sales quote approval and employee ‘on-boarding’.

“The great thing about The Process Factory and MashApps for users is that they can expand and contract their usage based on how their own business is going,” Pyke told CBR. “It’s easy to add more users at times of expansion, and to unsubscribe those users during a quieter period. The Process Factory gives IT-savvy business people the potential to build their own business applications in the cloud, without requiring any programming skills, but with 24×7 support.”
