LSI Logic Corp, Milpitas, California has come out with an ATMizer Megacore, and claims that it is the industry’s first complete reprogrammable Asynchronous Transfer Mode terminator on a single chip. The system-level building block includes on-chip RISC-based Asynchronous Transfer Processing Unit that LSI Logic says enables customers to update their products as the standard evolves, quickly and easily. The new Cascade Compact And SCAlable Dedicated Ethernet core can be used on its own or in conjunction with the ATMizer to do an Asynchronous Transfer Mode-to-Ethernet link. Pricing is dependent upon the level of customisation, volumes and system build ing blocks needed. The parts are already available.
