Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Modular Computer Systems Inc and Singapore Electronic & Engineering Ltd of Singapore have announced that ModComp’s Unix-based, Real/Star family of real-time computer systems will be used to implement part of a multi-million dollar contract for the Public Utilities Board of Singapore Waterworks; the contract is for a complete turnkey automation system and ModComp will provide six 9735 Series computers, under Real/IX; two front-end systems per waterworks will be configured in a standby arrangement using Pace/IX software, ModComp’s process and control executive software for process control applications; the systems will interface with 32 of the Modicon 984 Family of programmable logic controllers and a series of personal computer-based graphical man machine interfaces; also, ModComp will supply two 9735 Series computers to serve as batch systems connected over Ethernet TCP/IP to the front-ends; these computers will access real-time data from the front-end computers via the Pace/IX software database and deposit data into an Oracle relational database handling analysis and presentation.
