The new system, called Jump, signals the end of single application mobility systems, according to Jade MD Mark Brackley.
“It’s an any-to-any connection that links any device to any backend system, giving mobile workers access to critical data when they are out and about. Single purpose enterprise mobility applications are fine for certain uses but businesses need to mobilise workers with different data,” he told CBR.
Jump can hook up any back-office system, such as SAP, Maximo, Oracle or other proprietary systems to any smartphone, laptop or rugged handheld computer. It works on RIM’s BlackBerry devices and Android and iPhone versions are currently in development, Brackley said.
“The real key to Jump is its ability to simultaneously connect multiple mobile workers using multiple applications to multiple back office systems,” Brackley added in a statement. “This any-to-any connection enables organisations to accurately capture, monitor and manage the exchange of data as it flows between the organisation’s back office systems through its range of business processes to and from its mobile workers, all from a single platform.”
The main business benefit of the new platform is thee increase in mobile worker productivity but Brackley said that it also provides cost savings through a centralised management system.
Jade has teamed up with US-based @hand, who will be providing their Field Mobility System (FMS) software to power the data connections between the mobile devices and back-office systems.
