Sick of rolls heaps of unsolicited facsimile messages that waste your expensive thermal paper? Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp and Sharp Corp are working together to develop a machine with a large liquid crystal display and memory so that users can read incoming faxes page by page and decide which ones they want to print out; Toshiba Corp already has a display fax machine on the market and Nippon Telephone reckons that its advanced LCD technology should improve on this and is including such goodies as 50Kb memory and the ability to squeeze up to four pages of A4 messages on a single sheet of A4 paper; the new machine, equipped with a detachable scanner, is expected to be launched during the summer at a price of around $1,500; NTT is barred from manufacturing and it will be made by Sharp and supplied to NTT on an OEM basis.
