A group of 50 field marketing agents for long distance carrier Sprint Corp filed a class action lawsuit yesterday charging Sprint with using an illegal pyramid scheme to recruit its field sales force: filed on behalf of about 30,000 independent marketing representatives, the suit alleges that Sprint and its Network 2000 marketing arm promised marketing representatives it recruited a combination of long-term commissions and bonuses that would quickly add up to a steady income of close to $10,000 a month; commissions were to be computed on Sprint’s billings for usage by customers a plantiff signed up, and according to Reuter, attorneys for the plaintiffs estimate more than $10m in commissions and bonuses is owed the class; Sprint has no official knowledge of and no comment regarding speculation on any unfiled legal actions, a Sprint spokesman said; the suit charges that Network 2000 failed to credit each plaintiff with the customers he or she had signed up; Sprint and Network 2000 kept dual sets of records to avoid paying commissions that were owed; and Sprint failed to connect all customers the plaintiffs signed.
