AT&T Co is to acquire a majority interest in Barphone SA, the French suppliers of small and medium-size private telephone switching systems, and it will make a tender offer for the remainder of the shares. The transaction values the Saumer, Loire Valley company at about $47m; it had 1992 sales of $47m. Barphone had said it was in talks (CI No 2,175).
