Carrera Computers Inc, the Laguna Hills, California company that has been building R-series RISC boards, has made good on its February promise to come out with Digital Equipment Corp Alpha RISC-based workstations designed to run Windows NT (CI No 2,111). The Hercules 150 uses the Alpha 150 RISC, and says that prices for the system will be in the $4,500 range. Designed as a system building block for personal computer users looking for a cost-efficient way to move up to NT performance, the Hercules 150 will be configured in a tower enclosure with 150MHz Alpha AXP and motherboard, power supply, 512Kb cache, NT operating system licence, a 3.5 2.88Mb floppy, mouse and documentation. It’s out now.
