Lotus Development Corp expects strong fourth quarter profits, predicting per share earnings of $0.55 to $0.60 against $0.35 in 1992 and year-end earnings will be $1.60 a share against $1.87 a share in 1992, an expectation based on the interest in its cc:Mail and Notes for Windows: Lotus has launched a worldwide sales effort and is finding demand across Europe, especially eastern Europe; sales of MS-DOS 1-2-3 are fading, but 1-2-3 for Windows sales are plugging the gap; overall, Lotus reckons growth in the personal computer market is slowing and software prices have dipped, but it is more than filling the gap with its push into communications and integrated systems.
