Lexar Media, a provider of memory products for digital media, has unveiled Crucial RealSSD C300 drive, which it claims to offer mobile and desktop users the fastest SSD read and write speeds available to end consumers.

The new Crucial RealSSD C300 drive will come in a standard 2.5-inch form factor, supporting 128GB and 256GB capacities, and will come with a limited five-year warranty.

Lexar Media said that the new Crucial C300 drive provides read speeds up to 355MB/s and supports SATA 6Gb/s-the high-speed storage interface-and is backwards compatible with the SATA 3Gb/s interface.

Robert Wheadon, senior worldwide SSD product manager at Lexar Media, said: “The Crucial RealSSD C300 drive is the fastest drive we’ve tested to date. The big ‘wow’ factor for consumers is a marked improvement in boot-up times – the Crucial RealSSD C300 drive is blasing fast, like no other SSD we’ve ever seen in the Crucial Performance Lab.”

The Crucial RealSSD C300 drive is expected to be available in February 2010.
