At this rate, individual investors are going to have to meet a basic comprehension qualification before they are permitted to buy shares: despite the fact that Madge NV made it quite clear that the price cuts on its Token Ring adaptors announced in August were simply to bring its list prices in line with those quoted by other vendors, and would have no effect on the street price, the company received a shareholder class action; it has taken this long for the plaintiff to understand what Madge was saying and accept that there was no case to answer; the suit has been voluntarily dismissed, and the company will make no payment to the plaintiff – although it would surely have a good case if it launched its own suit against the plaintiff charging frivolous waste of company time and money, and seeking damages for distress suffered by the principals.
