A seasonal decline in semiconductor orders combined with strong sales in the US market caused the Semiconductor Industry Association’s book-to-bill ratio to fall slightly to 1.01 in June compared with 1.04 in May. The figure for April has been revised down slightly to 1.14 from a preliminary figure of 1.15 recorded in May. June orders in the US market based on a three-month moving average were $1,321.4m, 2% down from May’s $1,347.7m, but 2.4% up on the year ago figure. June shipments on a three month moving average only rose 1% up on May’s figure of 1,2957m, but are 7.3% up on the year ago figure. Actual shipments in June were 11.2% higher than the May number of $1,278.8m.
