Micro Focus Plc, Newbury, Berkshire has a new tool Remote IMS 1.0, designed for the development, testing and execution of IMS applications on an OS/2 machine with access to IMS/ESA databases located on an IBM Corp mainframe. It enables developers to access IMS/ESA full-function and fast path databases from an OS/2 box using the Focus IMS Option or IMS Production Option products. It means that Workbench developers access can use the Workbench tools while working with their IMS databases on the host, and build IMS distributed data applications with graphical user interfaces. It has two components:the mainframe Remote IMS Server and the workstation Remote IMS Requester. The mainframe Server runs in an IMS/ESA dependent region and communicates with the Requester to provide access to the database. Remote IMS routes DLI calls from the workstation to host IMS/ESA systems and returns the results to the workstation application program. Remote, network and local databases can be combined in one application or environment. It is $15,000 plus $300 per requester.
