Norsk Data A/S has been seeking partners to help out all its various operations, and it now looks to have landed the big one: Siemens-Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG has agreed to combine its Norwegian operations with Norsk Data’s ND Partner marketing and systems integration company, which deals mainly with national and local government and with the offshore oil industry. Norsk Data is effectively getting a problem child off its hands, because ND Partner made a first half pre-tax loss of $39m against a $150,000 profit in the same period last year. Siemens-Nixdorf will be the majority shareholder and will have the option to buy out Norsk Data’s shareholding. The merged company will also take over the ND Partner and Siemens-Nixdorf operating companies in Sweden and Denmark, Associated Press says.
