Sharp Corp is to start exports of its pocket-sized PC-3000, replacing the PC-6700 compact personal computer Sharp has been selling overseas to date, at a rate of over 100,000 units annually; the PC-3000 is smaller and cheaper than a notebook computer, with a width of 8.7 and depth of 4.4, and weight of 1 lb 12 oz; it runs XT-compatible software; Sharp had been planning to produce a colour notebook computer but according to the Nikkei Industrial Daily, has decided to concentrate instead on the pocket machines for its overseas markets because of price competition in the colour personal computer field.
