Hot on the heels of our first to brand X/Open Portability Guide 4 story last week came a pledge from Unisys Corp, an X/Open Co Ltd shareholder, that its U6000 series will be branded for XPG4 compliance and throughout the week came a slew of endorsements, as predicted, with IBM Corp, NCR Corp and SunSoft Inc also hopping on the bandwaggon; and Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG added its endorsement to the list of vendors pledging conformance, promising that the systems it has that are now XPG3-compliant will meet XPG4 by the end of the year: some of its software products are already XPG4 branded.
