JDSU has added new features to its T-BERD/MTS-6000A platform, which is used for testing Ethernet over SONET/SDH – using one module and one graphical user interface (GUI) for all interfaces up to 10G. The new features have led to multiple carrier product approvals for the T-BERD/MTS-6000A, the company said.
Reportedly, the T-BERD/MTS-6000A GUI guides users directly to the network layer that is causing trouble. This allows network architects, engineers and technicians to identify and resolve the source of network quality issues.
JDSU said that the new platform offers SONET/SDH test capabilities including, overhead analysis, round-trip-delay testing, and service disruption testing with multiple different triggers. It also provides the flexibility to set up and analyse Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) structures as well as to verify the correct transformation of asynchronous Ethernet frames into synchronous SONET/SDH containers using GFP encapsulation.
Within the same module and GUI, the new platform performs Ethernet/IP tests such as traffic generation and analysis, delay measurements, packet jitter analysis and ICMP pings. Alarm, error insertion and analysis capabilities at all layers stress test the network and verify correct reporting in network management, the company said.
In addition, the new platform is designed for all phases of fibre and transport network installation and maintenance. It offers a portfolio of test functionality for multiple network layers.
The company also stated that, its multi-services application module provides an integrated application for testing multiple technologies including Ethernet, PDH, SONET/SDH, optical transport network (OTN), fibre channel and EoS. optical modules to allow testing of short-haul, long-haul, FTTx, CWDM and transport networks.
