IBM Corp is negotiating for the possible sale of the manufacturing facilities it is abandoning in New York state, Governor Mario Cuomo said, although he refused to provide any details about the parties in talks with IBM, saying We don’t want to upset them: Cuomo’s chief economic adviser, Vincent Tese said he was ready to provide a significant incentive package if a buyer for the plants could be found; he added that in finding a buyer for the IBM facilities, you have to strike pretty quickly because IBM-trained employees are likely to leave the area soon after they lose their jobs and that would eliminate an incentive the area provides, that of a well-trained work force.
