IBM Corp is hedging every bet it makes these days, and while it may believe that OS/2 and LAN Server is the only client-server combination anyone could conceivably want, if Windows NT should take off, well IBM will be right in there offering the Microsoft Corp operating system. On Friday, Parallan Computer Inc, IBM’s server partner in Mountain View, California, source of the IBM PS/2 Server 195 and 295, announced that it has received from the IBM Personal Computer Co a commitment to fund development work on Windows NT. The deal extends the alliance with Parallan that gives IBM exclusive worldwide sales and marketing rights to server systems and software developed by Parallan. As well as the servers, IBM offers Parallan’s MASS/2 remote management software and Orthogonal RAID-5 Disk Array/2. IBM’s backing enables us to accelerate and add to the Windows NT work already under way at Parallan and further leverage our multiprocessing technology, Parallan commented on the new agreement.
