Anyone who has used both MCI Mail and the Dialcom system on which British Telecommunications Plc’s Telecom Gold is based will know that MCI is as user friendly as Dialcom is user-hostile, so it comes as no suprise that as from October 1, Microlink Ltd will stop using Telecom Gold as its host carrier, and switch to Istel Ltd’s electronic mail system: Microlink is dissatisfied with Telecom Gold’s service, and believes that Istel will provide a wider range of facilities at lower cost; Microlink cites Telecom Gold’s lack of higher speed 2,400 baud rate with MNP correction, and file transfer facilities as reasons for changing to Istel; Microlink subscribers will still be able to communicate with Telecom Gold users and with other mail services, including, for the first time, Compuserve in the US.
