Global DataGuard has released version 3.4 of its Firewall/Syslog Module (FSM). The FSM provides real-time monitoring and analysis of firewall, critical server and application logs from third party firewalls, routers and switches, and application servers.

Global DataGuard said that the new version comes with enhancements to provide storage up to 1.5 terabytes of onboard storage; new search capabilities for locating and analysing log events; and new log parsing and alerting that is designed to enable businesses achieve regulatory compliance.

The company said that said that with the FSM, all log files are continuously analysed by customer-specified rule sets and then retained for reporting and forensics.

According to Global DataGuard, the FSM collects, normalises, aggregates, compresses and encrypts log data from disparate 3rd party routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, AV, SPAM/spyware, Windows, UNIX and Linux systems and associated applications.

In addition, the FSM also: adds necessary resources, services and applications to a Whitelist to ensure that network ports and services are never accidentally blocked; nables users to define their own custom online SLA within the Global DataGuard Security Alert Response Procedure (SARP); and automates the process of producing reports and enables online access, through the Enterprise UTM++ monitoring console, the company said.

Global DataGuard said that the FSM integrates with all of the its Enterprise UTM applications to provide warnings of threats, reduce false positives, and enable management of a company’s total information security environment.

Reportedly, the new Firewall/Syslog Module is priced at $30,000 and it can be leased with managed services for $2,815 per month.
