Following Sony Corp’s introduction of a palm-size computer, Hitachi Ltd is working on an AT-compatible palm-top computer for launch in the autumn, with MS-DOS and telecommunications programs in ROM, an RS-232C port and a 320 by 240-dot liquid crystal diode display, weighing in at only 2.4 lbs; and Fujitsu Ltd is ready with an 80C286-based FM Notebook, late this year it also weighs 2.4 lbs and will sell for $2,000; expected to be derived from the Poqet machine, it will be compatible only with Fujitsu’s FMR personal computer family; and Sanyo Electric Co plans a book-size portable built to the Japanese language IBM AT-compatible AX standard.
