Available in 18 cities in three months, 88 cities in 1989, the Call-by-Call Service Selection, at $450, enables users to switch channels on the fly on high-speed leased lines, and the Info-2 service, $200 and 3 cents per number, enables the user to see the number of the calling party before picking up the phone. The charges are on top of an initial $300 and $400 a month to subscribe for ISDN service, which also needs an ISDN PABX. Upgrading AT&T’s System 85 is 5% to 10% of the initial cost of the box.
