Cabletron Systems, whose UK base is in Newbury, Berkshire, has started shipping its IEEE 802.3 10Base-T product line, which includes the 12 port interface modules for Cabletron’s Multi Media Access Centre, twisted pair transceivers, and personal computer interface cards for IBM AT, XT and Apple SE-30 buses: the Remote LanView management system has been enhanced with a graphics front-end and now manages bridges, so that twisted pair products on the 10BaseT-standard currently up for approval can be managed by one personal computer anywhere on a worldwide network; in the 10Base-T product line, a 12 port interface-based system will cost around UKP5,000, while the 84 port version comes in at UKP25,000.
