IBM expects the personal computer industry to see percentage growth between single digits and mid-teens in 1990, and said its own sales should be at the high side of that range, if not above, allowing it to gain market share: IBM vice-president Jim Cannavino told securities analysts at its Manhattan offices that he expects IBM to gain market share in the personal computer market as it is now shipping 99% of its PS/2s on time: he added that IBM is on track to meet its first quarter projections as most of the company’s components supply problems are behind it, with just 6% of shipments now affected by the problems; Cannavino also said that 93% of IBM’s hardware options are now available in one to three weeks adding that the supply problems with the 60Mb hard disk plaguing shipments in the first quarter will be resolved in the cuurent quarter.
