Now that IBM has abdicated the role Compaq Computer Corp intends to become the standard bearer for what everyone in the market calls the industry standard – the MS-DOS IBM Personalike in all its incarnations. Compaq says it will be launching a major new MS-DOS product this year, but may also do PS/2 compatibles – portables? – later.
