The Netherlands-based AT&T-Philips joint venture on digital switching exchanges has won contracts from Indonesia and Peru worth $260m in total to upgrade their respective telephone networks: Indonesia has commissioned the company on a two and a half year turnkey project to expand existing analogue switching systems and build a fibre optic link with Surabaya at the other end of Java while Peru wants its network modernised.
