Manchester-based Altos, Wyse and Sony distributor Logitek Plc saw a 55% increase in maintenance contracts over the corresponding period last year, with 25% of pre-tax profits coming from its technical services division; commenting on the company’s interim results, profits up 41% at UKP1.3m, a company spokesman said it was too early to say how sales of the News workstation from Sony were going – there was a gap of over six months between the company announcing an exclusive distribution contract in March to first shipments – but admitted it would not be until the next financial year that it would see any profit from the operation.
