The UK British Technology Group has won a signal victory in finally persuading General Electric to pay royalties on patents taken out on behalf of British academics that cover key features of nuclear magnetic resonance medical scanners that according to the Financial Times will bring in several million dollars of royalties; the Group is now pursuing Siemens, Toshiba, Philips and Diasonics for royalties on the same patents; half of the cash will go towards fostering new technologies, the balance to the universities where the techniques were invented, and half of that cash is to go to the individuals involved.
