LSI Logic Corp, Milpitas has licensed Valid Logic Systems Inc, San Jose, California to integrate LSI’s channelled gate array design methodology into its family of CAE/CAD tools. The initial agreement will last through 1989, with provisions for further renewal. The pact covers LSI Logic’s LL5000, LL7000, LL8000, and LL9000 Series of HCMOS channelled gate array libraries, simulation models, and verification technology, covering 1.5-, 2-, and 3-micron channelled gate arrays, and will enable Valid to offer design kits for LSI Logic gate arrays tightly coupled with LSI’s design methodology so that the design cycle can be simplified and resimulation reduced. The validation process ensures that designs done on Valid workstations will be compatible with LSI’s gate array fabrication processes. Valid’s CAD tools run on the IBM Personal AT and DEC VAXstation II, as well as its own SCALDsystem series of engineering workstations. LSI’s software database includes specifications for building models, calculatin g delays, and creating interface programs, as well as providing technology-dependent data and cell specifications.
