Padfone 2

While tablets are great, it can be annoying if you want to access content that is only your phone.

The Asus Padfone 2 is a seven-inch tablet with a docking station at the back where you can insert the accompanying smartphone. It is essentially an instant and easy upgrade from smartphone to tablet depending on your situation.

So when you are out and about, you can slip the 4.7 inch screen phone into your pocket. Then when you’re at home or at work, simply slot it into the tablet and us the bigger screen for browsing the internet, and even texting. The single large speaker on the back of the tablet also allows for great listening.

The dual-use system means users are getting a phone and a tablet for the price of a high-end smartphone.

The only downside is that the tablet won’t actually work unless you have the smartphone plugged into the dock on the back, so you can’t use the two gadgets at once.

The phone is also functions as a great smartphone without the accompanying tablet. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, with a 13 megapixel camera and a large F2 aperture to help in low-light conditions.

Having dual use of your data seems like such a simple, yet effective idea. It leads me to wonder why other companies haven’t pushed this idea on the market.
