The Olympus Corp US arm of Olympus Optical Co Ltd wants to step up its presence in the office printer market, and is to pay $15m for a one third stake in Delphax Systems Inc, a Randolph, Massachusetts company that is presently equally owned by Xerox Corp and Dennison Manufacturing Co, whose stakes now also fall to 33.3%. Delphax was formed by the two in 1979, and Olympus marketed one high-speed printer under licence from Delphax in 1984, and has developed other printers that are marketed by C Itoh Electronics Corp in North America.
