The systems integration joint venture established by Philips NV and BSO/Beheer BV over a year ago (CI No 1,308), has set up in the UK under the name OTIB, Origin Technology in Business. The international organisation is jointly owned by Philips and BSO, and registered in the Netherlands as BSO/PAS, reflecting its roots in Philips’ Application and Software Services division. The company will probably trade as Origin, but that has still to be confirmed. The UK represents OTIB’s second biggest market, and it already employs 250 people, 200 from the Philips side and 50 from BSO’s recently acquired subsidiary, GST Professional Services. It will operate from London, Manchester, Newcastle, Cambridge, and its Redhill, Surrey-based headquarters. The company says it is looking for turnover of UKP15m, and it hopes to reach UKP45m within five years. Business with Philips constitutes 80% of revenue, but OTIB says that should fall to around 40% by 1995.
