Telerik, a vendor of development tools and user interface components for Microsoft .NET platform, has released RadControls for Silverlight 3. The company said the latest volume of RadControls for Silverlight will provide support for Microsoft .NET RIA Services and DomainDataSource, validation and out-of-browser support, and offer a rich environment for the development of data-driven enterprise applications.
Telerik RadGridView for Silverlight allows developers to take advantage of the new capabilities in the Silverlight 3. RadGridView supports binding to .NET RIA Services, performing data operations on the server to speed loading, grouping, sorting and filtering. In addition, .NET RIA Services provides a set of server component extensions that makes development of n-tier applications almost as easy as single tier, the company claims.
RadControls for Silverlight also introduces data validation and out-of-browser support which enables an application to be placed on the user’s machine and viewed in the browser and on the desktop. Changes made to the desktop version will be automatically applied when the application runs online.
Telerik said that it offers 3D chart control for Silverlight and more than 30 controls for building line-of-business Silverlight applications.
As the Silverlight and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) controls that Telerik provides are derived from the same code base and share the same application programming interface, developers can re-use skills and code between the two platforms, maximising the value of their experience and knowledge, and enabling them to build web and desktop applications more easily and effectively, said the company.

We made available a build of RadControls for Silverlight against Silverlight 3 from its early beta stage and are now excited to present the official release of RadControls for Silverlight 3.”
