The BAFTA-hosted Multimedia Showcase was held in London yesterday, and it saw the launch of a number of new products including the Mediamaker from the BBC’s MultiMedia Corp. Jointly developed with MacroMind Inc, it is a creation and editing package that runs on Apple Macintosh, and integrates video, animations, graphics and audio sound. MediaMaker Collections are media databases that enable the user to view, add and edit elements of videotape, videodisk, compact disks, Macintosh sound and animations. Each element is represented by a picon, and the these can be copied to and from the various collections. MediaMaker Sequences provide a means of laying out and presenting picon elements. Playback of one video segment can be triggered before and or synchronised with other media. The MediaMaker will be with Apple resellers from November, and it costs UKP400.
