Talking of desk-top publishing, the original Pagemaker, Aldus Corp, finished its first day’s trading at $35.75, valuing the $18.4m-a-year company at a faintly unrealistic $468m – and making its founder and chairman Paul Brainerd a hundred millionaire: his holding in the company is worth $133.8m on paper.
