Advanced Micro Devices Inc warned yesterday that despite a late surge in orders, it expects to report first-quarter turnover below expectations and flat with both the immediate-prior quarter, when it did $270m, and the comparable 1988 quarter: an extraordinary gain on the sale of one of its plants to Sony Corp will lift its profits.
