ComputerLand Corp, still privately held despite coming close to a flotation several times, reports a loss for 1989 of $34.1m because of the problems in Australia, Hong Kong and China; there were further, previously unreported, problems in Scandinavia; it made a $6.5m profit last year: turnover for the year rose 13% to $122.6m – as a franchise operator, not much product goes through the company’s books.
