Tandem Computers Inc, Cupertino has unveiled a line of Distributed Systems Management products that it says are designed to help lower the cost of managing large networks of Tandem NonStop systems, providing problem-tracking and monitoring facilities and integration of network management in a mixed-vendor environment. DSM/SNAView is a software facility that forwards management events from Tandem systems to SNA management software including IBM’s NetView and Cincom Systems Inc’s Net/Master, enabling users to establish a single management focal point in a mixed Tandem and IBM network, so eliminating the need to monitor multiple sources of information. DSM/Problem Manager is a problem management and trackingsystem with options for automatic problem entry, assignment, tracking and escalation, with support for on-line procedural scripts. DSM Solutions is a monitoring and control facility for large Tandem distributed networks. The company also announced Guradian 90 Performance Analyser for its proprietary operating system; EMS FastStart, a programming aid for Distributed Systems Management; and the Seeview windowing package for Tandem terminals, which prov ides a consistent interface for Tandem utilities. DSM/SNAView ini tial licence fees are from $1,100 and will be available in second quarter 1990. All the other new products are available in the US immediately; DSM/PM initial licen ces start at $4,500; DSMS is from $3,850; EMS FastStart from $800; Performance Analyser from $1,000 and Seeview licences are from $950.
